My name is Laura Hall and I have been an educator for over 37 years with the Diocese of San Bernardino. I enjoy teaching second grade because I get to prepare my students for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
At the beginning of the year, We will focus on learning about the greatest gift that God gave us which is JESUS! Second grade is preparing for the Sacrament of Reconciliation by learning how to examine your conscience and how to give a good confession. Also, we will learn about the parts of the Mass, how to pray the rosary, and about the saints.
Our day will be spent on learning place value, addition, and subtraction in Math this semester. We will be reviewing skills and strategies on how to read and practice reading fluency. The students will learn how to respect, responsibility, kindness, and the beginning of our Nation in Social Studies. This is such a fun grade because I love to teach cursive writing. The students think it is fun to learn cursive writing because it is like art.
In second grade, we will learn about what is STEM in Science. For example, students will learn about engineering and how things work.
I address the social/emotional needs of my students as well. Religion time is the perfect opportunity to talk about how we feel, manners, sharing, respect, how to behave in the classroom, how to behave outside, and conflict resolution. We will have fun learning in our new STEM lab and ART
room.
