My name is Laura Hall and I have been an educator for over 36 years with the Diocese of San Bernardino. I enjoy teaching second grade because I get to prepare my students for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
During the winter, we will focus on learning about the greatest gift that God gave us which is JESUS! Second grade is practicing for our Christmas Program, so if you would like a sneak peak of our performance check on the St. Adelaide Academy Facebook page.
Our day will be spent on learning addition and subtration with/without regrouping in Math this semester. We will reviewing skills and strategies on how to read and practice reading fluency. The students will learn how to respect, responsibility, kindness, and the beginning of our Nation in Social Studies. This is such a fun grade because I love to teach cursive writing. The students think it is fun to learn cursive writing because it is like art. In second grade, we will learn about the sturcture and properties of matter. For example, students will learn about thermal insulators and to think, plan, and gather materials which would make a good thermal insulator. Also, I address the social/emotional needs of my students as well. During Religion time is the perfect opportunity to talk about how we feel, manners, sharing, respect, how to behave in the classroom, how to behave outside, and conflict resolution.
I am so excited to read the Bible and read saint stories to my twelve students this year. This will help us learn how Jesus want us to live.
